SMART IoT Hub
A dedicated research space for the development of sensor and Internet of Things technologies.
SMART Infrastructure Facility (SMART) is leading the way in establishing an Internet of Things (IoT) network in the Illawarra region to enable effective sharing and analysis of data.
Partnering with University of Wollongong’s Sustainable Buildings Research Centre (SBRC), the SMART IoT Hub - located within SMART’s $62 million facility - is a dedicated space for the development of sensor and IoT technologies.
Work conducted in the hub includes the utilisation of cutting-edge cloud computing and sensor technology to capture essential data on rising water levels. This data has been used to inform emergency management authorities in monsoon-impacted regions.
The SMART IoT Hub is partnered with Thinxtra who has provided Sigfox technology for the hub with IoT development kits available for use. The SMART IoT Hub is a member of The Things Network, a community of technology enthusiasts and developers leading the way in developing a free and open Internet of Things data network.
