Vice-Chancellor's Postdoctoral Fellowship

Get your research career off to a flying start, with a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the SMART Infrastructure Facility at the University of Wollongong, with:

  • 3 year appointments for external candidates
  • Salary range: $68,236-$82,884 p.a. (full-time), plus 17% superannuation
  • Start-up funding guaranteed

We are seeking to connect outstanding early career researchers with our established, world-class academics, in areas of existing and emerging research strength. Up to nine highly competitive Postdoctoral Fellowships will be offered for 2011 with up to 3 fellowships available to candidates researching in the SMART Infrastructure Facility research areas. A further three Bridging Fellowships of one year’s duration will also be available to internal candidates.

Candidates passionate about the future of society and how it will impact on individuals, business and government who are interested in the following research themes are encouraged to apply:

Model Based System Engineering for Infrastructure Projects, for candidates with a background in:

  • Systems Engineering

Social validation of urban simulations using interactive virtual reality, for candidates with a background in:

  • Virtual reality development, or
  • Gaming and computer graphics

Agent-based modelling of the social aspects of infrastructure and land use changes, for candidates with a background in:

  • Agent-based modelling, particularly with geospatial aspects

 A multi-utility dashboard for Australian infrastructure, for candidates with a background in:

  • Data mining, or
  • Analytics specialist, or
  • Quantitative Sociology.

Auditing, Reporting, Transparency, Risk Allocation and Process Learning, for candidates with a background in:

  • Public Sector Auditing,
  • Organisational Sociology, or
  • Behavioural Decision Making.

Ensuring efficient investment in, and use of, infrastructure, for candidates with a background in:

  • Public Economics,
  • Economics of Regulation,
  • Applied Microeconomics,
  • Urban Economics,
  • Industrial Organisation, or
  • Cost Benefit Analysis.
