The Teaching Model
SMART will deliver a comprehensive multi-disciplinary teaching program comprising core subjects and specialised elective subjects in undergraduate years, infrastructure majors, undergraduate research experience, postgraduate coursework and research programs and short-course professional and continuing education.

The Research Model
SMART will create a research model that includes:
- up to date modern laboratories for each research group across the infrastructure spectrum
- physical co-location of researchers to promote multi-disciplinary collaborations
- co-location with the Simulation Centre to allow research theories to be applied to large scale real world scenarios for impact and feasibility analysis
- feedback from the Simulation Centre to generate additional research possibilities
- enhanced ability to demonstrate research findings to industry and government
- commercial industry engaged research in a facility that promotes industry attendance.
